On A2K ep.13, JYP Ent’s representative J.Y.Park told audition applicant Kendall, “Full voice instead of palsetto.”
This is because Kendall sang it in a part that should be sung in full voice, in a falsetto.
Unfortunately, Kendall could not distinguish between full voice and facetto, and could not be fixed in ep.13.
Then, what are the full voice and falsetto?
Some people recognize it as a voice when speaking full voice and a voice when singing falsetto. However, full voice and falsetto are slightly different in music.
We spit the air out of the body to make a voice. At this time, the air collides with the vocal cords and mouth. Full voice and facetto are classified according to the shape of the vocal cords.
Full voice refers to the sound of the vocal cords completely colliding, and falsetto refers to the sound of the vocal cords not being completely attached.
The appearance of the vocal cords affects the sound. The full voice, in which the vocal cords completely collide and make sounds, is powerful. What about falsetto?
In A2K ep.13, J.Y.Park told Kendall, “Kendall when you sing your locals sound thinner than Kaylee’s.”
The falsetto, which is not completely attached to the vocal cords, is mixed with a lot of wind sounds and has a thin and high note because the vocal cords vibrate while away.
In addition, Kendall is not good at distinguishing between full voice and facetto, but usually full voice and facetto can be distinguished by experienced people. Just as color perception was different according to culture, perception of sound differs according to experience. You should listen to full voice and facetto a lot and get used to the sound.

그렇다면 진성(full voice)과 가성(falsetto)은 무엇일까?
어떤 사람들은 진성(full voice)을 말할 때의 목소리로, 가성(falsetto)을 노래할 때의 목소리로 알고 있다. 하지만 음악에서의 진성(full voice)과 가성(falsetto)은 조금 다르다.
우리는 목소리를 내기 위해서 몸 안의 공기를 몸 밖으로 뱉어낸다. 이때, 그 공기는 성대, 입과 부딪히게 된다. 진성(full voice)과 가성(falsetto)은 성대가 어떤 모양이냐에 따라 구분한다.
진성(full voice)은 성대가 완전히 부딪치며 소리를 내는 것, 가성(falsetto)은 성대가 완전히 붙지 않으며 소리를 내는 것을 말한다.
성대의 모습은 소리에 영향을 준다. 성대가 완전히 부딪치며 소리를 내는 진성(full voice)은 힘이 있다. 가성(falsetto)은 어떨까?
A2K ep.13에서 J.Y.Park은 Kendall에게 “Kendall when you sing your vocals sound thinner than kaylee’s(Kendall, 노래할 때 목소리가 kaylee보다 가늘어요)”라고 말했다.
성대가 완전히 붙지 않은 가성은 떨어져 있는 상태에서 성대가 잔진동을 하기 때문에 바람소리가 많이 섞여있으며 가늘고 높은 음이 난다.
또한 Kendall은 진성(full voice)과 가성(falsetto)을 잘 구분하지 못하는데, 보통 진성(full voice)과 가성(falsetto)은 숙련된 사람들이 구분할 수 있다. 문화에 따라 색체 지각이 달랐던 것처럼 소리에 대한 지각도 경험에 따라 다르기 때문이다. 진성(full voice)과 가성(falsetto)을 많이 듣고 소리에 익숙해져야 한다.
물론 모든 가수들이 진성(full voice)으로만 혹은 가성(falsetto)으로만 노래를 부르진 않기 때문에 조심해야한다. 숙련된 가수라면 가성(falsetto)과 진성(full voice)을 적절하게 섞어 부르는 것이 가능하다.
앞서 말했듯 진성(full voice)과 가성(falsetto)은 성대가 폐쇄되느냐 아니냐에 따라 구분한다. 즉, 가성(falsetto)을 진성(full voice)으로 바꾸려면 성대를 폐쇄하며 소리를 내야 한다.
성대를 폐쇄하는 방법(the way of VOCAL CORD CLOSURE)은 이 글에서 논의하지 않겠다. 방법을 명확하게 글로 전달하기 힘들 뿐더러 좋은 영상들이 유튜브에 올라와 있기 때문입니다. 유튜브에 ‘cord closure’만 검색해도 많은 영상들을 찾을 수 있다.
J.Y.Park은 Kendall에게 “You have to sing it with air and that makes your voice a little bit fuller. (공기와 함깨 노래해야 해요, 그러면 목소리가 좀 더 꽉 차요)” and “Don’t ease your way into the note. Just attack it. (음을 부드럽게 시작하지 말고 세게 때려요)” 라고 조언하였다.
J.Y.Park은 Kendall이 조금 더 자신의 톤으로 노래를 부르기를 원했기 때문에 이러한 조언을 한 것 같다.
