However, there are cases where a few questions or requests are made. The judge is asking a question to evaluate the applicant positively or to learn more about the applicant’s characteristics.
“Have you been a trainee at another agency or are you currently auditioning for any agency?”
“How tall are your parents (brothers and sisters)?”
“Do you want to try putting up your bangs?”
“Please smile so that dentition can see it.”
If the applicant was asked the above question by the judge, it can be considered that he left a positive impression.
Why does the audition judge ask, ‘Have you been a trainee at another agency, or are there any agencies currently auditioning?’
The audition judge asks this question to the applicant who wants to watch more. This is because the judge wants to have time to estimate how much more audition applicants who are inexperienced in dancing or singing can grow (i.e., to see if they should compete with other agencies). When asked this question, the applicant can answer honestly.
However, the answer that ‘I have been an idol trainee for a long time at other agencies’ should be avoided. As mentioned earlier, the audition judge asks this question to gauge the applicant’s ‘growth potential’. At this time, the answer of “I have been a trainee for 3 years at OOO ENT” may be a factor for the judge to determine that the applicant has no further possibility of growth.
Questions related to the applicant’s appearance are also asked in the capacity to pass the applicant. Why does the audition judge ask questions related to the applicant’s appearance?
Appearance-related questions or requests are the process of gathering various information by the judge to determine how the applicant may change externally. Most applicants for kpop audition are young. Therefore, there is a wide range of external changes.

Sometimes the audition judge asks the applicant, ‘Do you want to sing another song?’ or ‘Do you want to sing a song with the opposite characteristics of the song you just sang?’ This is mostly a question to check the applicant’s range.
Each Ent has its own color. For example, SM wants someone who can sing high notes. If the applicant sings a mid- to low-pitched song in the SM audition, the judge asks, ‘Do you want to sing another song?’ to judge the applicant’s competence. Therefore, the applicant must also practice a song that is opposite to the song he will sing in the audition.
When the audition candidate only sang, When you hear the applicant’s audition preparation period and expect to have prepared the dance, The judge asks the applicant, ‘Can you show me a dance?’

audition 심사위원은 ‘더 지켜보고 싶은 지원자’에게 이 질문을 한다. 춤이나 노래에 미숙한 audition 지원자가 얼마나 더 성장할 수 있는지 가늠할 시간을 갖고 싶기 때문이다(즉, 다른 기획사와 경쟁해야 하는지 확인하려는 것이다). 이 질문을 받았을 때, 지원자는 솔직하게 답하면 된다.
하지만 ‘다른 기획사에서 오랫동안 아이돌 연습생 생활을 했다’는 대답은 피해야 한다. 앞에서 말했듯이 audition 심사위원은 지원자의 ‘성장 가능성’을 가늠하려 이 질문을 한다. 이때, “OO ENT에서 3년간 연습생 생활을 했습니다”라는 대답은 심사위원이 지원자가 더 이상 성장할 가능성이 없다고 판단할 요인이 될 수 있다.

지원자의 외모와 관련된 질문 또한 지원자를 합격시킬 요량으로 하는 것이다. audition 심사위원은 왜 지원자의 외모와 관련된 질문을 하는 것일까?
외모와 관련된 질문이나 요청은 심사위원이 지원자가 외적으로 어떻게 바뀌어 갈 수 있는지 판단하기 위해서 여러 정보를 모으는 과정이다. kpop audition 지원자는 대부분 어린 나이이다. 따라서 외적 변화의 폭이 넓다.
– 다른 노래 해 볼래요?
– 춤 한번 보여 줄래요?
이같은 질문이나 요청은 심사위원이 지원자의 특색을 더 파악하기 위해 하는 것이다.
가끔 audition 심사위원은 지원자에게 ‘다른 노래 불러 볼래요?’ 혹은 ‘지금 부른 노래와 반대의 특징이 있는 노래 불러 볼래요?’라고 요청한다. 이는 대부분 지원자의 음역을 확인해 보려는 질문이다.
각 ENT는 각자의 색깔이 있다. 예를 들어 SM은 고음을 낼 수 있는 사람을 원한다. 지원자가 SM audition에서 중저음 노래를 불렀다면 심사위원은 지원자의 역량을 판단하기 위해 ‘다른 노래 불러 볼래요?’라고 요청하는 것이다. 따라서 지원자는 audition에서 부를 노래와 정반대의 곡도 하나 연습해야 한다.
audition 지원자가 노래만 불렀을 때,
지원자의 audition 준비 기간을 듣고 춤도 준비했을 것이라고 예상될 때,
심사위원은 ‘춤 한번 보여 줄래요?’라고 지원자에게 요청한다.
kpop dance 학원을 운영해 본 사람은 말한다.
“가장 좋은 것은 audition 보는 ENT에 소속된 가수의 노래를 그 가수보다 더 잘 부르는 것이다.”
하지만 그런 능력을 가진 사람이 몇이나 될까?
따라서 audition 자신이 가장 잘 부를 수 있는 노래를 불러야 한다. 그리고 가능하면 kpop 노래여야 한다. 자신이 kpop audition을 잊지 말라.
