K-pop audition preparation

Hello. This is Star Bank Daeppang Seulbi. Today, I will post about the questions I was most curious about while preparing for a K-pop audition at home.

Preparing for an audition alone can be difficult. I will solve those difficulties through this post.

When preparing for a K-pop audition, it is important to appropriately distribute the time for practicing dancing and singing. It varies depending on individual skills and goals, but you can generally set the practice time at the following ratio.

[1]. Basic ratio (dance:singing = 60:40)

-Dance (60%)

Choreography is an important evaluation factor in K-pop auditions, so invest more time in practicing dancing. In particular, focus on practicing rhythm, expressiveness, and accurate movements.
*Rhythm and basic movement practice: 20%
*Audition choreography completion: 30%
*Facial expression and camera performance practice: 10%

-Singing (40%)
Singing is important for pitch, beat, and the ability to convey emotions. It is essential to focus on stable vocalization and breathing control, and practice singing along with dancing.
*Basic vocalization and pitch training: 15%
*Complete audition song: 20%
*Practice singing with dancing: 5%

[2]. Adjust the ratio to suit you
-If you are strong in singing (dance:singing = 50:50):
Practice dancing and singing equally and invest more time in improving your dance expressiveness.

-If you are strong in dancing (dance:singing = 70:30):
Build the basics of singing and maximize your dance performance.

[3]. Weekly practice plan

-Weekdays: Practice dancing and singing separately, but do intensive technical practice.
-Weekends: Continuously practice dancing and singing as if it were a real audition to get a feel for the real performance.

-Extra tips
*Break time: Take short breaks between dancing and singing practice to stay focused.
*Recording: Record your practice to check and improve your weak points.
*Prepare for the real performance: Simulate the audition environment and build confidence on stage. Appropriate time allocation and consistent training are the key to preparing for K-pop auditions!
